Blackcurrant: my super allergy reliever

Le cassis: mon super anti-allergique

This month, we're focusing on a well-known topic: allergies! A bit early, you might say? Yes, but allergies aren't just seasonal; quite the opposite. Furthermore, it's important to prepare yourself and have peace of mind for the approaching spring, as pollen is never far away. How can you deal with these unpleasant symptoms naturally? Thanks to our star bud: blackcurrant! Want to know more?

What are allergies?

Hypersensitivity or allergy is an abnormal reaction of the immune system, a loss of tolerance towards substances that are normally harmless.

Indeed, our body is constantly adapting in order to maintain a certain coherence in the face of the numerous interactions it has with "external" elements. The environment is constantly evolving, and with it new "foreign agents" have appeared, which can lead our immune system to seek new responses to elements it has not encountered during its evolution.

This adaptation does not always occur harmoniously and can lead to imbalances, including hyperreactivity of the immune system, namely hypersensitivity!

What is more commonly called an allergy is the set of clinical manifestations resulting from a hypersensitivity reaction, either through symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes or, in the longer term, fatigue or insomnia.

The most frequent triggers or allergens can originate from various factors:

  • Indoor environmental factors: dust mites, dust, cat hair, dog hair…
  • External environmental factors: pollen, outdoor mold, pollution…
  • Environmental factors related to food : eggs, fish, peanuts, milk…

The WHO, which has ranked allergies as the sixth major public health problem, indeed notes that they are not only becoming more frequent, but also increasingly acute.

Natural solutions

Although the number of people affected seems to have increased considerably over the past several decades, there are now effective and natural solutions for their care.

Concentrated gemmotherapy, for example, can help relieve these seasonal discomforts!

Gemmotherapy: Blackcurrant

Known for centuries as an antidote, blackcurrant bud (Ribes nigrum) is recognized as a powerful anti-inflammatory and universal detoxifier (capable of cleansing the entire body). It acts on all aspects of inflammation, and especially allergic inflammation.

Blackcurrant is known as a cortisone-like anti-inflammatory. It increases cortisol levels in the blood by acting on the adrenal glands. This makes it a powerful anti-allergy remedy with effects similar to those of cortisone, but without the side effects, such as drowsiness, of chemical anti-allergy medications. Well-known for its benefits against hay fever, respiratory allergies, and asthma, it is also effective against skin allergies.

Blackcurrant is the most studied bud in the world due to its great potency. When combined with other buds, it enhances their properties. It is therefore the ideal companion in a blend.

A natural anti-inflammatory

In addition to being indicated for combating allergic reactions (hay fever, asthma, chronic coryza), blackcurrant bud is also recommended for treating various types of inflammation of all origins, whether chronic or not. Its antioxidant action and lack of side effects are particularly appealing to people who suffer from:

  • inflammations of all kinds
  • irritable bowel syndrome
  • gastritis
  • problem skin
  • shooting pains in the head
  • of ENT and respiratory infections (bronchitis, flu)
  • joint pain (osteoarthritis, arthritis)

An anti-stress remedy

A current problem, chronic stress is the continuous stress of daily life. When we have a problem, the body doesn't differentiate between major stress (life-threatening) and minor stress. The adrenal glands gradually become dysregulated, and cortisol production is no longer appropriate. The person becomes exhausted, suffers from extreme fatigue, and experiences a weakened immune system. Blackcurrant helps regulate adrenal function and cortisol production.

How do I use it?

Blackcurrant macerate is taken as a course of treatment for 1 to 3 weeks.

Start with 5 drops per day in a glass of water between meals and increase the dose to 15 drops per day if necessary. If needed, repeat the 3-week course after a one-week break.

You can also mix it with other macerated buds and young shoots, such as fig . In this case, dilute 5 to 7 drops of each macerated extract daily in a glass of water.

As with oak, blackcurrant stimulates the production of cortisol, which naturally peaks in the morning. Therefore, blackcurrant buds are best taken in the morning for optimal results.

For allergy sufferers

For those with chronic allergies , taking it regularly for three months provides a desensitization effect . It will reduce the intensity and frequency of allergy symptoms. During this treatment phase, it can be combined with rosemary young shoots.

Indeed, thanks to its stimulating and protective action on liver function, young rosemary shoots promote the elimination of toxins and the body's detoxification. Its free radical-fighting and invigorating properties help soothe the body, restoring its vitality.

Contraindications

Not recommended for pregnant women and subject to medical advice for people with severe kidney problems.
